TULSA, Okla.—University of Hawai’i men’s tennis players Diego Dalisay and Quinn Snyder opened the ITA All-American Championships’ pre-qualifying Round of 256 with victories at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Saturday morning.

Newcomers Dalisay and Snyder are both junior transfers who joined the Hawai’i men’s tennis team this Fall. Dalisay comes to UH after spending two seasons at Tyler Junior College, while Snyder matriculated to UH after playing two seasons in three years at Central Florida.

In his opening match, Dalisay defeated Gus Tettamble of Tulsa in a tough three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. The win propelled Dalisay into the Round of 128, taking on Rice’s Trinity Grear. Unifortunately, Dalisay was down a set and trailing 2-6, 1-2 when he retired due to injury.

Snyder won his Round of 256 match in three sets. He came from behind a set down to down Kentucky’s Matthew Rankin, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Snyder then took on Justin Lyons of Florida State in the Round of 128. Snyder fought hard, but came up short, falling to Lyons, 4-6, 3-6.
