KAPOLEI, O’ahu – University of Hawai’i senior Focus Jonglikit carded a 1-under 71 Monday in the opening round of the 26th Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Club.
 
The Thailand native was one of 11 golfers to shoot under par among the field of 95. Jonglikit is tied for seventh place entering Tuesday’s second round.
 
As a team, the Rainbow Wahine sit in eighth place at 300. The team dropped nine strokes over the last four holes to finish at 12-over for the round. Baylor leads the team standings at 3-under 285, one stroke ahead of New Mexico State (286).
 
NMSU’s Angela Garvin holds the first round lead after a 5-under 67, two strokes clear of Baylor’s Rosie Belsham and Sacramento State’s Ella Kraft.
 
Also competing for UH were Jordyn Parr (75; t-33rd), Emiko Sverduk (76; t-37th), Kellie Yamane (78; t-55th), and Wendy Song (80; t-71st). Two others are competing as individuals – Monica Johnson (80; t-71st) and Sofina Firouzi (81; t-75th).
 
The day featured a pair of hole-in-ones – Osaka Gakuin’s Hina Murakami aced the No. 5 hole while Gonzaga’s Chaewon Baek aced the No. 8 hole.
 
The tournament continues with Round 2 on Tuesday with a 9:00 a.m. HT shotgun start.
