For the third day in a row, the Las Vegas Valley saw temperatures hit at least 80 degrees. Except this time it was a record.

Harry Reid International Airport registered 83 degrees on Saturday, the National Weather Service reported on X. The previous record was 82 degrees, set in 1986.

On Thursday, the airport recorded its first 80-degree day of the year, hitting that mark just before 2 p.m. It ended the day at 83 degrees, the warmest day of the year. The daily record was 87, set in 1986.

On Friday, the airport saw 82, one degree short of the record set in 1986. Another record could be set Sunday, with a forecast high of 83 degrees. The record is 82, set in 1986.

The rising temperatures in Southern Nevada arrived after last week’s rain, wind and cooler-than-normal temperatures. On the heels of three Pacific Storms storms that brought much-needed rain into the valley last week, a ridge of high pressure moved into the region, causing the rapid temperature shift.
