Lawrence Co. IL Board Passes Resolution Opposing Taxpayer Assistance …

The Lawrence County, Illinois Board has approved a resolution effectively stating that Lawrence County, absent any emergency circumstances, will not accept or provide taxpayer funded dollars that would go toward assisting illegal immigrants.

The resolution further states in part that the county does not have adequate resources or infrastructure to adequately meet the needs that would be necessitated if there were a significant increase in migrants who might look to reside in Lawrence County.

The resolution is in response to what the board described as the ongoing immigration crisis and subsequent influx of migrants and asylum seekers being brought into Illinois.
