Longmont will hold its annual free family celebration for Dia de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The festival, held at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Main Street, will feature dance performances, cultural food and arts activities for the whole family. The Firehouse Art Center will also coordinate a parade of handmade “gigantes” puppets through downtown, starting on Fourth Avenue at 2 p.m.
The Day of the Dead festival has been a staple of Longmont since 2000 and is the longest-standing celebration of the holiday in Colorado. The city will also continue to commemorate Dia de Muertos for the next several weeks with ofrenda displays, local art exhibits and more.
