Louisville Rep. Kyle Brown announces re-election bid – Boulder Daily…

Rep. Kyle Brown, D-Louisville, wants to continue to represent his community at the state level.

Brow announced his bid for re-election Wednesday. He was appointed to the Colorado House of Representatives on Feb. 1 by a vacancy committee to replace former House District 12 Rep. Tracey Bernett.

Brown’s term will end Jan. 8, 2025, with elections for state representatives Nov. 5, 2024.

Brown said he has spent his entire professional career dedicated to public service. He has served in senior roles in the administrations of two Colorado governors and as an advisor to two U.S. senators. He was also one of the Ward 3 representatives on the Louisville City Council.

“I was incredibly honored to be able to serve the town that I grew up in,” Brown said.

He explained he is most proud of being able to represent, serve and advocate for his community during his time as state representative.

He said after the Marshall Fire, the community had lost a lot and needed a strong representative. When Bernett resigned, Brown said he knew he had to continue to serve his community in a different way.

“There are needs that we have as a community where the state needs to be a partner,” Brown said.

Brown points to the fact that in his short time as a state representative he has sponsored and written 11 bills that have been signed by the Governor. The bills passed focused on Marshall Fire recovery, climate change action, affordable health care, affordable housing and protecting the environment.

“I’m going to continue to fight for my community, to make sure that we are doing what we can to make sure that every family in Boulder County and across the state has the opportunity to succeed,” Brown said.

The Marshall Fire is the most tangible example of the current climate crisis, Brown said. He explained the fire was an example of “the real effects of climate change coming to our door.”
