A Bridgeport man has been charged with allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint outside an after-hours bar in Shelton, police said.
In October, police began an investigation after a man reported that he was robbed outside a bar, which was being run out of a basement apartment on Howe Avenue in Shelton, according to the Shelton Police Department.
The man told police that he was leaving the bar — which police have since shut down — when two people came up to him, both aimed guns at him and demanded his belongings, police said.
The robbers took his phone, credit cards, jewelry and other items, according to police.
Detectives began tracking purchases that were made on the man’s credit cards and identified 29-year-old Marquise King of Bridgeport as one of their suspects, police said.
Investigators reportedly found two guns, other property taken from the victim and other items bought with his credit card when they arrested King on Tuesday. He was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny and criminal possession of a firearm, according to police.
King was being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in court in Derby on Tuesday, police said.
The robbery was still under investigation and investigators were continuing to look into the after-hours bar, according to police.
