EAST CHICAGO — A 41-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning after entering the East Chicago Police Department detention garage holding a semi-automatic firearm in his right hand, EC police said.
At approximately 5:45 a.m., Officer Flavio Huerta pulled his marked squad car into the detention center. Huerta began vacuuming his car and putting air in the tires prior to starting his shift.
Officer Corey Hollowell was outside in the parking lot when he observed Marc L. King enter the detention garage, police said. Both officers drew their weapons ordering King to drop his weapon.
King complied and was taken into custody. When asked why he was at the detention garage, King replied, “I need more bullets,” police said.
King, of East Chicago, was charged with two felonies for possession of cocaine and unlawful carrying of a handgun, and two misdemeanors for criminal trespassing and unlawful possession of a firearm by a dangerous person. He is also being held…
