COLCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — Route 16 in the area of Cemetery Road in Colchester was shut down Saturday night after a car accident involving serious injuries, according to state police.
The scene has since cleared. The accident happened just after 10 p.m. There were four occupants in the vehicle. Two of the passengers in the back seat reportedly were ejected from the vehicle, and sent to Hartford Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
State Police said that the driver of the vehicle left the side of the roadway and collided with a tree. That driver was sent to Hartford Hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries.
The passenger in the front seat suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and also was sent to Hartford Hospital, according to State Police.
