Selma murder victim's mother unhappy with murder sentence – WAKA…

The sentence handed down to a Selma man convicted of murder has left the victim’s mother heartbroken — and fuming.

Lakeisha Leggett is grieving over the loss of her 20 year old daughter Shykereya. And Leggett is also upset about the sentence that was given to the man convicted in her murder.

“My daughter life mattered. She had somebody that loved her. That was my best friend. She wasn’t just my daughter, she was my best friend,” said Leggett.

“She was a single mother who was an innocent bystander outside of a local nightclub when some gunfire erupted. And she ended up being struck by a hail of bullets,” said District Attorney Robert Turner, Jr.

A Dallas County jury convicted Juantonio Cosby of murder and assault back in October — in a 2017 nightclub shooting.
