KAPOLEI, O’ahu – University of Hawai’i sophomore Wendy Song carded a 3-under 69 in the second round of the 26th Rainbow Wahine Invitational Tuesday at the Kapolei Golf Club.
The Taiwan native posted six birdies on her round and finished 4-under over her final eight holes. Song, who tied for the low round of the day, is currently tied for 29th place at 5-over 149.
Leading the way for the Rainbow Wahine is Focus Jonglikit who shot even par 72 and is 1-under 143 for the tournament and tied for fourth place. The Thailand native is four strokes off the lead held by Baylor’s Rosie Belsham heading into Wednesday’s final round. The tournament marks the end of Jonglikit’s UH career.
Baylor continues to lead the team standings at 569 after a 284 on Tuesday. The Bears hold an 11-stroke lead over New Mexico State. Host UH is in seventh place at 592 but are four strokes out of third place currently held by Big West foe UC Davis (588).
Emiko Sverduk carded a second round 75 and is tied for 40th at 151 with teammate Jordyn Parr, who shot 76. Kellie Yamane is tied for 60th at 155 after a 77. Two others are competing as individuals – Sofina Firouzi (74=155; t-60th) and Monica Johnson (80=160; t-76th).
The tournament concludes with the third round on Wednesday with a 9:00 a.m. HT shotgun start.
