A CUSTOMER with JPMorgan Chase has been left fuming after their account was allegedly shut down hours after they opened it.
They claimed that it was only one hour after the account was active with the financial institution that it was then closed.
The bank client explained the complicated situation in a recent thread on Reddit, searching for answers from others who might have gone through a similar scenario.
It all started when they got a flyer in the mail from Chase, who they already held three credit cards with.
The letter supposedly offered a deal to the customer for a “combined $900” bonus if they also opened a checking and savings account with the bank.
“Having 3 cc with chase already and being unhappy with wells Fargo I decided to give my business to chase,” the Redditor wrote.

They continued that they went in person to their local Chase branch to open the account alongside a staff member, going through the standard process of providing two forms of ID among other documentation.
Things got confusing soon afterward, as the customer said they essentially set up their checking accounts simultaneously on their phone and through the banker’s computer.
Before they left the branch, everything appeared to work properly.
By the time they arrived home, however, Chase allegedly texted the customer that the accounts were flagged for fraud.
They claimed that the bank then restricted their access to the mobile application entirely, even the three credit cards they’d already set up before opening the checking and savings account.
The customer said they immediately called the Chase fraud line and spoke with a representative who asked if they’d recently opened a checking and savings account.
Access was then given back to the customer for the mobile application, but they claimed the checking and savings they just opened were permanently closed.
The Redditor fumed that the rep told them there was “nothing they could do” and the accounts needed to be reopened at the branch once again.
“Very frustrating experience all around and all chase can say is try again,” they wrote.
They added that the experience left a “foul taste.”

Several other Redditors tried to offer reasonings behind why the alleged account closure happened so fast.
A few recommended the customer double-check their file on ChexSystems.
ChexSystems is a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) that can help consumers verify the accounts they have, their credit, and other important information.
Something could’ve gotten mixed up in the process of opening the accounts.
“Go to ChexSystems and review your file,” someone suggested.
“Yeah, there has to be some issue on the ChexSystems for the account to be closed that fast,” another added.
Several others argued that it was a problem on Chase’s end, citing its “overzealous” fraud department.
