LAS VEGAS — University of Hawai’i swimmers posted the top times in six events in Saturday’s long-course time trials to open the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas.
In the women’s events, UH graduate student Anna Friedrich led the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 4.55 seconds. Freshman Zofia Tyminska (1:10.79) and junior Kathryn Ivanov (1:11.32) topped the 100-meter breaststroke. Graduate student Mira Selling (57.71) placed first in the 100-meter free at 57.71 seconds.
Timothy Gallagher led the men’s 100-meter backstroke with a time of 55.58 seconds. Sophomore Tom Caps topped the 50 meter breaststroke at 29.48, just ahead of junior teammate Tomer Goldfaden (29.91). Junior Grant Stoddard had the top time in the 50-meter butterfly at 24.93.
The four-day meet continues Sunday with men’s and women’s competition in the 500-yard freestyle, 200 IM and 50 freestyle. Preliminaries start at 7:30 a.m. Hawai’i time with finals scheduled for 3 p.m.
