Update at 5:31 p.m. Sept. 23: Big Island police report missing endangered child Daniel Pond was located Saturday in good health in Kona.

Original story: Big Island police are asking the public for help with locating 12-year-old Daniel Pond, who was reported as a runaway but because of his age is considered an endangered missing child.

Daniel was last seen at 6 a.m. Sept. 23 on Onipa‘a Street in Kailua-Kona wearing a black face mask, dark sunglasses, gray jacket, dark jeans and white adidas shoes.

He is of Hawaiian/Japanese/Portuguese/Mexican ethnicity, 4-foot-10, 100 pounds, with short black hair, brown eyes, a thin build, medium complexion and a scar above his left eye. He could possibly be in the company of another runaway, his 14-year-old sister Michelle Pond.

Anyone with information about Pond’s whereabouts is asked to call the Hawai‘i Police Department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 808-961-8300.
