While Super Tuesday is primarily known as the day when a major chunk of the U.S. votes for its presidential primary picks, Alabama’s ballots also contain some important local and statewide races.
Here’s a rundown of what will be on your ballot if you live in West Alabama. Because it’s a primary race, when you go vote you’ll be asked if you want a GOP or Democrat ballot.
Alabamians don’t have to be a registered member of a party to vote in a primary. However, voters can’t vote in a runoff if they voted in the opposite party’s primary.
Here’s an example: If you vote on the Democrat ballot March 5, you can’t vote in a GOP runoff if one happens April 16.
Some races, such as those for U.S. representatives, are regional and appear on multiple counties’ ballots. Others, like county commission district races, only appear if you live in the appropriate district.
