KAPOLEI, O’ahu – The University of Hawai’i women’s golf team placed ninth after the conclusion of the final round of the 26th Rainbow Wahine Invitational Wednesday at the Kapolei Golf Club.
Baylor went wire-to-wire to capture the team title for the second time in three years at 844 followed by co-runner-ups New Mexico State and UC Davis (863). The Rainbow Wahine shot a final round 292 to finish at 884.
The individual title was shared by co-medalists Davina Xanh of Cal State Fullerton and Baylor’s Rosie Belsham, who each finished the tournament at 7-under 209. Xanh shot the low round of the day with a 7-under 65.
UH’s Focus Jonglikit closed out her Rainbow Wahine career in tie for 15th place at even par 216 after a final round 73. The Thailand native will not return for the spring season and finishes her career having competed in 14 tournaments over three seasons after transferring from Kent State.
Wendy Song followed her 69 on Tuesday with 1-under 71 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 27th place at 4-over 220. Emiko Sverduk posted her best round of the tournament at 1-over 73 to finish at 224 and a tie for 37th place. Jordyn Parr tied for 57th at 227 and Kellie Yamane tied for 66th at 230.
Two others competed as individuals – Sofina Firouzi (74=229; t-63rd) and Monica Johnson (78=238; t-79th).
The tournament concludes the fall season for the Rainbow Wahine. The spring season begins Feb. 5-6 with The Beach Invitational in Seal Beach, Calif.
