A woman has been taken to a hospital for second-degree burns in connection with a house fire Tuesday in the western Las Vegas Valley.
The initial call for the 8800 block of Clear Blue Drive, near West Desert Inn and South Fort Apache roads, came in at 11:50 a.m., according to a City of Las Vegas spokesperson. The first unit arrived four minutes after their assignment. Crews arrived and began an offensive strategy. The call has since been upgraded to a 2-alarm fire.
The victim was taken to University Medical Center Trauma.
Several firefighters were still at the scene of the fire as it 1:30 pm Tuesday.
Andrew Howe, a neighbor who lives four houses down from where the blaze occurred, said he did not see the fire but heard sirens heading into the neighborhood a little before noon. Howe said he does not know the people living there but said he saw people carrying dogs away from the home.
“I’ve been in this neighborhood for about four years, and this is the busiest I’ve ever seen it,” Howe said through his front screen doors roughly an hour after the fire was reported.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
