A 28-year-old man fatally shot in West Garfield Park Sunday was the lone person killed by gunfire over the weekend across Chicago.
According to Chicago Police Department data, 18 total people were shot in 17 separate shooting incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
The 28-year-old victim was found unresponsive by officers responding to a shot detection alert at around 10:45 a.m. in the 3800 block of West Gladys Avenue. He’d been shot multiple times and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition, but later died. A second man also suffered a graze wound to the face, but refused medical treatment.
At least three juvenile boys — ages 13, 14, and 17 — were also shot and wounded in separate incidents Sunday. The 17-year-old was listed in critical condition, the 13-year-old was in serious condition, and the 14-year-old was in good condition.
