Freezing rain in Central Illinois Monday morning has made for hazardous travel conditions with several crashes in the area already.
Illinois State Police Captain Jody Huffman issued an advisory early Monday morning urging people to pay attention to road conditions and take caution.
“Road conditions are wet and ice covered. If you do not need to travel – don’t, stay home,” Huffman said. “Emergency crews are responding to multiple crashes and vehicle slide offs.”
And if travel is necessary, Hoffman says to give emergency crews room to work, slow down, change lanes if possible and proceed with caution.
