Brother rushed victim of Hammond shooting to hospital but they didn’t…

The victim’s brother rushed them to the hospital but they died of their wounds.

The Hammond Police Department was notified about a shooting victim at Community Hospital in Munster at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. 

A witness told them a shooting took place on the 1300 block of Sherman Street, which is by Memorial Park on the eastern end of Hammond, near the Roxana neighborhood in neighboring East Chicago.

“Preliminary findings revealed the presence of shell casings at the scene on Sherman Street,” Hammond Police Department spokesman Lt. Steven Kellogg said. “The investigation indicates that the victim was meeting with another individual when a gunfire exchange ensued. Subsequently, the victim was transported to the hospital by their brother. The victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.”
