One person was shot Sunday afternoon at Boca Raton’s Town Center Mall, police say.

The person was taken to Delray Medical Center while SWAT teams continued to search the mall, 6000 Glades Rd.

Reports of shots fired at the mall around 3:30 p.m. drew Boca cops and agents from the ATF’s Miami office began heading north to assist. At 3:56 p.m., Boca police posted alerts that they were “working an active incident” and asked people to “shelter in place.”

Though the rumor spread there was an active shooter, police Tweeted around 4:15 p.m., “there is no active shooter at this time.”

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more is learned.
