BETWEEN WOOD AND WATER documents the restoration and history of Canada’s oldest functioning sailboat, Dorothy, a lovely, lucky sailboat who has fired the hearts and imaginations of British Columbians for well over a century. Built in 1897 in Victoria, B.C., the 30-ft wooden sloop, with her beautiful shape and heartbreakingly pure lines, excited attention wherever she went. At present, a full restoration by shipwright and marine artist Tony Grove (www.tonygrove.com) for the Maritime Museum of B.C. (mmbc.bc.ca) is being undertaken – and documented for the film – with the goal of re-launching Dorothy in her home waters at the 2017 Victoria Classic Boat Festival, where the 120-year old boat will contend for her title as the oldest and fastest little wooden ship in the west! more at: www.dorothysails.com and www.thegroveschool.com
