Fire damages Sussex Solid Waste Authority building

 A fire caused more than $100,000 in damage to a structure at the Delaware Solid Waste Authority Jones Crossroads Landfill south of Geogretown.

The fire was reported at 1:30 p.m. The Millsboro Fire Company arrived on the scene and found smoke and fire coming from a structure at the Solid Waste Authority facility. Mutual aid fire companies assisted.

 Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office deputies were determined that the fire was accidental and started in the interior of the structure. The cause was ruled to be a mechanical malfunction of equipment.

The structure was not occupied at the time of the fire. and there were no reported injuries.
