The AP released its 2023 preseason All-American list on Monday with four Georgia Bulldogs named to the first team, the most of any program.
The Big Ten leads all conferences with 12 first-team selections. Ohio State has three selections, followed by Michigan, Penn State and Iowa each with two selections.
The SEC has a second-best seven selections, including two LSU players and one player each for Alabama and Ole Miss.
Here are the Bulldogs’ AP preseason All-Americans:
Tight end Brock Bowers
It can be argued that Brock Bowers is the best player in the country. Bowers is having one of the best tight end careers in college football history. The junior tight end is remarkably consistent and has no weaknesses in his game.
2022 stats: 63 receptions for 942 yards and 10 total touchdowns.
Center Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran is the leader of Georgia’s offensive front. The former elite center recruit has started 30 straight games for the Georgia Bulldogs and helps the Dawgs’ continuity up front.
2022 stats: 2.1% pressure rate allowed in 15 games, per Pro Football Focus.
ILB Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Junior inside linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson returns as the vocal leader in Georgia’s front-seven after a stellar 2022 season.
2022 stats: 71 tackles, four sacks, and three pass deflections.
Safety Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks is coming off of a freshman All-American season for the Bulldogs and should be even better in 2023 with a season under his belt.
2022 stats: 69 tackles, two interceptions and seven pass deflections.
Second-team selection: DB Javon Bullard
You can make a case for junior defensive back Javon Bullard as a first-team selection after the year he had in 2022. Bullard earned Defensive MVP honors in both of Georgia’s College Football Playoff matchups.
2022 stats: 46 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three pass deflections and two interceptions.
