To give the most open roads for possible evacuations, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended tolls on the Florida Turnpike and eight other toll roads around the state.

Also free for now are the toll section of Interstate 75, Alligator Alley; the Sawgrass Expressway (State Rd. 869); the Beachline Expressway (State Rd. 528); the Daniel Webster Western Beltway (State Rd. 429); State Rd. 417; and the express lanes of Interstate 95, Interstate 75 and Interstate 595.

The Turnpike toll suspension includes the Homestead Extension.

Service plazas will remain open, but, the Florida Department of Transportation reminds, they aren’t hurricane shelters. And restaurants and gas stations at the service plazas will be closed in whatever part of the state Dorian threatens.
