For whatever reason, no matter how good the Illini squad is, Maryland seems to have their number.
Sunday’s 76-67 loss marked the third in a row for Illinois against the Terrapins.
Looking back further than the past three matchups, the orange and blue have had little to no success when facing this Big Ten squad.
The Illini are now 2-10 in their last 12 games against Maryland, consisting of one four-game losing streak and two three-game skids in that span.
Since Maryland left the ACC and joined the Big Ten conference in 2014, Illinois has a 3-10 record against them. This has consisted of a 2-6 record at home and a 1-7 record on the road.
The only instance of the Illini beating Maryland multiple times in a row came in a three-game winning streak over the Terps that lasted from the 2010-11 season to the 2014-15 season.
