Activities touched on hiking safety, and let attendees get their hands dirty planting seeds and decorating pumpkins.
Cepeda’s work includes a man made of wood on a cross-country journey; a book by Toni and Slade Morrison called “Peeny Butter Fudge,” a Puerto Rican folktale called “Juan Bobo Goes to Work” and the golden hamster saga about a cute critter named Freddy.
Families also received free books at the event, which was held at the A.K. Smiley Public Library and nearby Smiley Park.
