GAME STORY LINES

  • UH takes on former WAC rival Nevada in a battle between one-loss squads.
  • This will be the 34th all-time regular-season meeting between the programs. All but eight of those meetings came between 2001-12 while the teams competed in the Western Athletic Conference.
  • UH leads the series 11-6 in Honolulu, where the last two meetings, both non-conference, have been held. The ‘Bows clipped the Wolf Pack, 76-75, on Roderick Bobbitt’s buzzer-beating, layup in November 2015. In 2017, Nevada beat UH, 67-54, behind 38 combined points from Caleb and Cody Martin.
  • Dating back to 2013, UH has dropped six of its last seven meetings versus Mountain West teams, with its lone win coming in 2015 vs. Nevada.
  • Both teams will compete in next week’s Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head with the UH and the Wolf Pack on opposite sides of the bracket.
  • UH has won a pair of home games in convincing fashion over Central Arkansas (95-76) and Hawai’i Pacific (78-53), following its first loss of the season on Nov. 30 vs. Utah. Nevada, meanwhile, bounced back from its first loss of the year to Drake with a 72-55 win over Weber State on Wednesday night.
  • UH is off to a 7-1 start for the first time since Eran Ganot‘s inaugural season in 2015-16 and is seeking to stay perfect at home after starting 5-0.
  • Nevada ranks 8th nationally in free throws attempted (27.6) and 9th in free throws made (19.8) per game. UH ranks 30th nationally in field goal percentage (.493) and 32nd in 3FG percentage (.387).
  • Following its game versus Nevada, UH will host the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, opening up against Portland on Thursday, Dec. 21.
