A 43-year-old Florida man who went missing on Saturday after going paddle boarding dressed as “Captain Jack Sparrow,’ from the popular Disney “Pirates of the Caribbean,” was found dead Monday.

The victim often wore the costume and was known in the community as “Captain Jack.”

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a search shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday when Joshua Hensley was reported missing by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. Hensley left Hunter Springs Park on Saturday to paddle board on the Crystal River.

While the incident is under investigation, the sheriff’s office released a statement saying, “We offer our deepest condolences to Joshua’s family and friends in this difficult time. ‘Captain Jack’ was a beloved figure in the community and will be missed.”

Hensley’s body was found in the waters of Kings Bay in the Crystal River.
