Anchorage police announced late Friday morning that the northbound lanes of the Glenn Highway are closed from Peters Creek to Eklutna due to hazardous road conditions.
“There is no alternate route so please avoid the area and detour back into Anchorage,” it said.
Peters Creek is roughly 25 miles from downtown Anchorage.
Drivers reported on social media multiple accidents in the area, describing the highway as extremely slick.
Anchorage police have not yet provided an estimate for when the northbound lanes will reopen.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
