HONOLULU—The University of Hawai’i women’s volleyball team hosted its annual “Open Practice/Green-White Scrimmage” in front of about 300 fans on Saturday afternoon in the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
 
The Rainbow Wahine conducted practice for the first hour or so before the team competed in a Green-White Scrimmage. The Green Team prevailed, 17-20, 20-14, 20-9, 20-17. Senior outside hitter Riley Wagoner led the scrimmage  with 12 kills while middle blocker Kennedi Evans came through with 10 kills and match-high four blocks. Newcomer Jacyn Bamis  and sophomore Caylen Alexander put down nine kills apiece.
 
Hawai’i opens its 2023 season this week with the high-powered Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic (Aug. 25-27). The ‘Bows open the tourney against Northwestern on Friday, Aug. 25. UH will then face 13th-ranked Oregon and No. 9 Oregon on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
