Due to a rock slide during blasting, Boulder Canyon Drive is currently closed between Boulder and Nederland.

According to a release from the Colorado Department of Transportation, the “unexpected rock fall” occurred between mile marker 39 and 40 of Colo. 119.

Boulder Canyon Drive was already closed due to rock blasting related to road work, but will now not reopen at 2 p.m. today as scheduled while crews try to clear the roadway. Officials said the road would likely be closed until at least 4 p.m., and delays could last into the evening.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes between Nederland and Boulder today.
