Small plane crashes in Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village

A small corporate plane crashed Friday evening in Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village, authorities said.

The crash took place about 3 miles west of O’Hare International Airport, according to a statement the Chicago Fire Department posted on social media.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane was a twin-engine Beechcraft BE20 and crashed around 7:15 p.m. with only the pilot on board.

The plane’s pilot was able to walk away from the scene, said the Elk Grove Village Police Department in a statement posted on social media.

Elk Grove Village police and fire were assisting staff from the Cook County Forest Preserve in responding to the crash, according to the Police Department’s statement.

The National Transportation Safety Board is monitoring the situation.
