A temporary closure of Boulder Canyon Trail will occur Monday in advance of it being closed through the end of the year starting Sept. 13, despite an earlier Colorado Department of Transportation announcement that said the closure through 2019 starts Monday.

The temporary closure will take place from 7 a.m. to noon Monday on the trail at mile post 40 where it crosses under Colo. 119.

Through access will be prevented from Boulder to the Four Miles trailhead while crews prepare for upcoming rock protection work.

On Sept. 13 the same portion of the trail will close and will remain closed through the end of the year, with through access prevented from Boulder to the Four Mile trailhead while crews install rock protection around the highway structure.

CDOT added cyclists traveling eastward will have to use Colo. 119, while westbound is closed to cycling traffic.
