In Master Mortise and Tenons (1hr 40min DVD), you’ll create an heirloom-quality chairside table from solid oak using the same hand-cut mortise and tenon joints used throughout centuries of joinery and furniture making.

The greater complexities of table construction are addressed throughout this film, as are the techniques for developing the haunched mortise and tenon joint. With no fewer than eight interconnecting joints, students gain mastery at the bench as they follow the many techniques and methods taught.

Master Craftsman Paul Sellers takes you through the many different stages as you build your first hand-made table. He discusses the elements of wood choice, grain color and configuration, and further defines the essentials of laying out more complex projects.

You will learn how to edge-joint tabletops and how to shape and refine the legs and aprons of the table. You’ll learn surface preparation techniques Paul has used for almost five decades.

This advanced project continues to reinforce the essential concepts of Working Wood Series 1 and the principles can then be applied to many of your future projects.

Paul Sellers is a lifelong craftsman with 47 years of experience in full-time woodworking, woodturning and fine furniture making. Having dedicated his life to training fellow woodworkers of every skill level, Paul publishes widely and teaches woodworking in Europe, Canada and the USA.

In his Working Wood series, Paul teams with award-winning filmmakers to introduce a modern apprenticeship for every woodworkers of every background.
