Officials have shut down Boulder Canyon Drive due to snowy conditions and multiple crashes.

The Colorado Department of Transportation sent out a release announcing the closure of Colo. 119 between Colo. 72 and Magnolia Road just after 8 a.m. today.

Per police radio traffic, emergency crews were dealing with a pileup involving about eight cars in the canyon this morning.

CDOT indicated today’s scheduled full closure of the canyon for construction-related purposes was cancelled should the weather-related closure be lifted at any point.

But officers in Boulder Canyon were also reporting that the timing lights on the one-way closure in place due to construction in the area were off due to vehicles moving at slower speeds, resulting in vehicles coming up and down the one lane at the same time.
