The University of Colorado Boulder is investigating a verbal altercation between students that included racial slurs, according to a statement from CU system President Mark Kennedy.
A video of the altercation was posted on social media on Sunday. In the video, a white female student accuses a black male student of stalking her. She can be heard cursing at him and using the “N” word.
The person who posted the video, who wasn’t part of the incident, said his friend was trying to study in the engineering building when the woman verbally attacked him, accusing him of being part of a group of black men who were stalking her. She also threatened to call the police.
Neither the person who posted the video nor the man involved could be reached.
In his statement, Kennedy wrote that CU’s Office of Institutional Equity & Compliance will investigate the incident.
“We will learn more in the next few days, but I want to be clear in unequivocally condemning racist and threatening behaviors,” he wrote.
1 of 2: I understand a verbal altercation occurred at @CUBoulder between students that included racially hostile language. I support the chancellor and the Office of Institutional Equity & Compliance in immediately launching an investigation to determine what transpired.
