Curved-folded Wood Pavilion
by C. Robeller, S.S. Nabaei, and Y. Weinand (EPFL)

The Curved-folded wood pavilion shows a structural application of curved CLT, a relatively new product offered by european panel manufacturers. A 7-axis Robot Router has been used to fabricate single-degree-of-freedom joints, inspired by traditional, hand-crafted woodworking joints. With its curved-folded shape, the thin-shell structure spans over a length of 13.5 meters, at a shell thickness of only 77 millimeters.

This clip was accepted as a video submission to Rob|Arch 2014 – the international conference on robotic fabrication in architecture, art, and design.
