
The family of an Elk Grove Village man who police say confronted officers with a knife late Friday afternoon outside his Fern Drive home has retained a Chicago attorney.
Jack Murray, 24, was shot to death by officers who observed him leaving his home carrying a knife after he confronted officers in a nearby yard, according to police.
Murray was taken to Ascension Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village where he was pronounced dead. Four officers were taken to a nearby hospital for observation. They were treated and released, according to officials.
Murray’s family hired Antonio Romanucci to represent them, according to an email from the law firm Romanucci & Blandin.
Noting that police did not immediately allow Murray’s relatives back into the home, a firm spokeswoman indicated they did not believe “anything inside the Murrays’ family home would be pertinent or relevant to any crime.”
