A wind-driven fire burned at least one home near Fontana at midday Thursday, Oct. 10, the San Bernardino County Fire Department said.
The fire was reported around noon at 9531 Palm Lane. Other homes were threatened, and brush behind the homes was on fire, a Twitter message said. Power lines were also reported down in the area.

Heavy winds were making the firefighting difficult, so a second alarm was requested.
