A holiday tradition in Longmont is on the move this year.

For the past 12 years, OUR Center and Old Chicago have joined forces to provide a Thanksgiving Day meal to those in need. The meal would usually be at Old Chicago in Longmont. This year, the meal will be served at OUR Center due to managerial transitions for Old Chicago.

Elain Klotz, development director of the OUR Center, said “We hope this is just this year and we are certainly happy to do it and accommodate it here.”

Old Chicago is operated by Craftworks Holdings, whose restaurant support office is run out of Broomfield.

Josh Kern, a spokesman for Craftworks Holdings wrote in an e-mail, “This year we are donating $2,500 and connecting them with food vendors in lieu of hosting on premise. Should be a great event!”

The OUR Center expects several hundred people to attend and grab a traditional turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day, similar to years past.

Klotz said she hopes the meal being held at Our Center will provide an opportunity for more people to get involved with the nonprofit’s mission, either by volunteering to help out at the meal or by sponsoring the event.

The OUR Center assists individuals and families in need via a food pantry, a community cafe that serves lunch and breakfast, a community closet, rent and utility bill assistance, and housing and employment referrals, as well as a support network to connect people to legal and health care resources and to gain lifelong skills to build self-sufficiency.
